Many small businesses underestimate the internet and its infinite power. I am talking about super hero power with the emphasis on POW and WOW! Websites are great but if they are not performing then customers will only find you if they are searching for you; and not for your product. Now don't get me wrong; it can be somewhat time-consuming but not complicated. I am going to give you some ideas but not unlock all of my secrets!

Google- your biggest asset and it doesn't cost you a penny; which makes them even more appealing. Google offers all types of free business/web services and as they are the main search engine; welcome them with arms wide open. So dig into Google's online services and go farther with your business.

Online Business Directories are a gift sent from heaven. A majority are free and there are so many that to try and list them would just be a huge waste of space. Simply type into your search engine-business directories' and you should get a list of helpful directories that are free. A common one you may recognise is Yell or the yellow pages; an oldie but goodie.

Website content is a tough one; because unless you are a writer or hire one it can be a challenge. It is important that your website is grabbing business from search engines; this is done by keywords. So keep your website rich in keywords but beware Google is watching and will punish you for overkill! There are numerous tools online to help you evaluate what people are searching for in regards to your industry.

Social networks; it appears that I have already mentioned a brand name in excess (Google) so I am not going to go into detail with the names but there are some major ones out there. If you don't know them then your kids will know. They are all over the news and most companies have a page listed with one or more. These pages are built to connect people; so take advantage of online community life and join up. It doesn't make you just another conforming fish in the sea but a really big aggressive shark in the sea of commerce.

Each website needs back links to get higher search engine rankings as well as appropriate keywords; so the above options help you get connected' to the search engine world. You will be amazed at the results that begin to tumble in from building a strong hold online and as I said it's free!'

Michelle, Google offers a number of helpful and free programs for any business or person wanting a bigger presence on the web. Thank you for taking the time to show us all that it isn't impossible to do.
